This camp is inspired by the book The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate and can be used with upper elementary students. The book is based on the real life of a gorilla who was kept in a small cage for 27 years at  a shopping mall before being brought to Zoo Atlanta . Using this camp along with the novel allows students to connect to a real-world problem through STEM activities.
