Special education, general education, designed to assist teachers in scaffolding student skills to help students move away from relying on accommodations that are not allowable on state assessments.

Teachers use accommodations on a regular basis in the classroom. Accommodations are educationally appropriate and can be very effective in enabling students to access the general curriculum. Many accommodations that have traditionally been used in the classroom, however, are not allowable on state assessments. These cards are designed to assist teachers in scaffolding student skills to help students move away from relying on accommodations that are not allowable on state assessments. These cards provide classroom teachers with specific, concrete suggestions for building cognitive strategies that will enable students to function more independently in their work and not rely as heavily on accommodations.
